I have lived in the BD10 area for most of my life. You may recognise me as the local lollipop lady which I did for 32 and half years on Harrogate Road. I still support the local community as a volunteer for RCA as a board member. I enjoy helping the local community.
My story began with a visit to Gateway to look for pastimes and courses ‘I came as a Brocken person’. Since I started doing voluntary work at the Gateway I have found my niche in supporting people ; people matter to me immensely and if I can help them I am more than happy to do so. I have tried a number of different ‘h ats’ within the gateway as need as arisen and I have loved every minute of the different roles I have played. Volunteering at the Gateway has put the sparkle in my shine.
My name is Mandy I am 47 years old and have been working at the Gateway for one and half years. I love volunteering because I get to meet different people, it gets me out of the house and I have gained many qualifications in the process. I do gardening and I also help to run our very busy seniors club on a Friday. I love working with the seniors because I get to make them laugh and I know I make a difference in their lives.
