“I have lived in the BD10 area for most of my life. You may recognise me as the local lollipop lady which I did for 32 and half years on Harrogate Road. I still support the local community as a volunteer for RCA as a board member. I enjoy helping the local community.”

Ex Royal Navy (fleet Air Arm)

“I want to be certain that the local residents run or have a say in decisions affecting their quality of life. I have lived in Ravenscliffe/Greengates since 1974.”

Bob Sherry
Deputy Chair of Board

Bob has been resident on the Ravensliffe estate for 37 years and knows most of the people who live here. He was involved in the initial development of the centre and has been an active volunteer for 12 years. His role as a volunteer involves working in the gardens, opening and closing the centre for community groups, handy man, Chair of the Board and kitchen assistant (when needed) . Bob didn’t want to give a testament, but we can say that he is a massive asset to our centre and without him it would be very hard to offer the services we do to the community. Bob is one of our longest standing associate & volunteer and is much loved by everyone.

Tracy Dean

I have lived on the estate since 2004, I’ve volunteered at the Gateway for about 2 years. I volunteer at the junior youth club and the karate group. I also get involved in open days and events. I always help out where needed. As a member of the Parent Power who have provided karate and the youth club, we are the voice of the youths and parents of the estate. We are in the process of becoming a group in our own right, to apply for funding and further expand our provisions. Onward and upward for Parent Power. I am also a new member of the board, all the people who work or volunteer at the Gateway are all lovely people and easy to get along with.
