Parents as Partners in Learning

Ravenscliffe Community Association has been successful in securing funding from BDMC for the ‘Parents as Partners in Learning’ contract for the Eccleshill / Idle area and is working in partnership with Eccleshill Adventure Playground and Inspired Neighbourhoods in project delivery. The aim of the project is to build and support a local partnership of parents, schools and other partners to develop, deliver and support the evaluation of work to improve parent engagement with school, improve parent confidence and skills to support their children ‘s learning, in line with priorities set out in Bradford’s Children, Young People’s and Families Plan 2017-2020.
This is an innovative programme which will be closely monitored and evaluated to determine ‘what works’ locally and what else might be needed to further develop parental involvement in education. Learning will be fed into the Centre for Applied Educational Research to advance wellbeing and educational achievement for children and families in Bradford.
The programme will build adult capacity for employment and will raise educational attainment of children of primary school age through improving their literacy and oracy skills. This will be achieved by working with parents of children to introduce a variety of parental and family interventions to increase the skills, confidence and abilities of all family members to improve educational attainment thus putting parents at the heart of the learning journey.
